Adam Phillips – A reliable performer with bat and, more recently, ball, Adam has played at Pencarrow for over 20 years. An unflappable temperament coupled with the ability to make the hottest chilli and egg sandwiches in the county means Adam is a regular when available.
Stuart Ellis - Skipper Stu has done well to lead an inconsistent and unreliable bunch of players to the Division 5 title in 2005 and a couple of respectable mid table finishes in Division 4 since then. A County Over 50's player and respected figure throughout Cornish cricket, in his spare time Stuart enjoys dogging and trimming his handlebar mousetache.
Barny Jackson - Now the 1st XI captain at local rivals-turned-feeding-club, Lanhydrock CC, Barny nevertheless remains indisputably etched into Pencarrow folklore. A genuinely destructive allrounder, 'BJ' contributed 48 wickets during Pencarrow's title winning 2005 season and had a run of 3 consecutive centuries culminate with 185 off just 33 overs vs St Austell 3rds. A tour regular.
Sam Millatt - Former Newquay youngster Sam finally gave in to the persistent tapping-up he received for many years, and made a stunning start to his Pencarrow career in 2007 with match-winning innings against Grampound Road (45*) and South Petherwin (77*). Millatt has recently been appointed club vice-captain and selector, and suffered a lean season with the bat in 2008, but emerged as a useful off-break bowler capable of bowling long spells and breaking the 20-wicket barrier for the first time.
Gerald Semen - The founding father of the modern club, Gerald resurrected Pencarrow CC in the 1980s. Club captain for many years, Gerald is a fine fielder, the club umpire and spends incomprehensible amounts of time preparing the PCG. Recently developed a more aggressive approach to batting which reaped a stunning 38 from 53 balls with 9 boundaries at Fowey.
Graham Francis - Graham faded away from the Pencarrow scene after making the 2007 handbook for averaging a staggering 0 with the bat throughout the season. Was last seen in southern India honing his technique against spin on dustbowl wickets.
Mark Kempthorne – One of the most talented youngsters to come through Pencarrow’s academy, blossoming allrounder ‘Kempo’ is one of the clubs true characters. Famous for turning up to a club AGM on his tractor, Kempo tends to save his best form for friendlies.
Charlie Ellis - Charlie has topped the league averages for the last few years with his bouncy pace bowling, taking an incredible league 179 wickets at less than 10 each in the last 4 seasons. Recently departed his homeland to go traveling for a year, Charlie's all-round ability will be a massive loss to Pencarrow.
Stacey Sleeman - The delightful wife of Olly and arguably the queen bee among Pencarrow's WAGs, Stacey braveley went where no woman had ever been before to join the boys on tour in Gloucester in 2006. Also makes a smashing PCG tea when not ironing Olly's pink shirts.
Rob White - Another new signing in recent weeks, Rob is a graduate of the notorious Newquay youth academy system. Rob is an aggressive middle-order batsman and useful medium pace bowler. Rob is also completely T-total, and the only squad member never to touch alcohol or any drugs. Rob has now embarked on a successful career with the Royal Air Force that has cut short his 2008 career.
Olly Sleeman - A useful leg-break bowler and former skipper, Sleeman's commitment has flagged recently following becoming a father to twins and his aborted close season transfer to Fowey. When he plays, however, his clean hitting and wicket-taking bowling are crucial to the balance of the side.
Ryan Curtis - Renown for his presence in the field and erratic if useful top-order batting, Ryan has become a key player in the Pencarrow squad in recent seasons. He has scored vital 50's in match-winning causes against Grampound Road III in 2008 and St Blazey II in 2009. A useful fielder and part-time seam bowler, Ryan's off-field antics and womanising have endeared him to his team-mates.
Joel Thomson - Few players have made such a massive impact at the club in such a short spelll as Joel did in 2006. Bolstering a limp PCC tail-end with his determination, Joel finished with a 30+ batting average and single-handedly destroyed Westbury on tour with a devastating spell of medium-slow bowling that saw him take 4-5 from just 2 overs. Possibly slept with Barny to celebrate.
Mike Woodland - Mike is a total legend at Pencarrow whose finest moment was undoubedlty not dropping a catch at Fowey during the 2006 season. Unable to ever concentrate fully on the game because of his addiction to sex-pesting, Mike is also affectionately known as Mr Floppy.
Caleb Rowe – Caleb shows all the application and enthusiasm that should see him become a really good cricketer like his older brother Jake. A budding young bowler that is also a capable batsman, Caleb tragically broke his leg in 2 places on the eve of the 2008 season.
Sarah Taylor - Sometime tealady of the PCG and possibly the future Mrs Charlie Ellis, Sarah has lacked commitment this season, preffering instead to ban Charlie from postmatch drinking sessions. A regular on tour, Sarah once memorably mistook the married Olly Sleeman for a rentboy.
Jake Rowe – Jake is left-arm spinning all-rounder and was arguably Pencarrow's best player during their dismal 2008 season. Following this, he was poached by neighbours Wadebridge where he has matured into a successful bowler.
Tim Redman – Tim is certainly not the youngest of Pencarrow’s recent recruits but is still one of the most important. A top-order left-hand batsman with a superb range of shots, Tim played for Cornwall and Somerset 2nd XI and remains a fantastic wicketkeeper.
Tom Higgs - Despite making just one appearance ever for Pencarrow, Tom has achieved legendary status within the club. Without doubt the finest fielder in the world bar Jonty Rhodes, Tom also has a history of boozy moose-hunting that would benefit our annual Gloucestershire tour.
Phil Baker - Phil is a recent recruit, and a seasoned veteran of the game, after playing in Essex and also in the Devon league for Yelverton. He is an aggressive stroke maker that is strong through the off-side, and useful leg break bowler when he manages to pitch the ball. Phil retired from all forms of cricket following Pencarrow's disastrous 2008 campaign.
Chris Partridge – A likeable young bowler with plenty of spirit, Chris burst onto the scene for Pencarrow this season. His medium pace bowling shows plenty of potential and Chris has worked very hard at his batting, which is showing promise. Chris has also just joined the Royal Air Force and we wish him all the best with his career.
Anthony Mitchell - A former Pencarrow all-rounder that recently returned in time for the 2008 season, Mitchell is a great athlete and his all-round ability is a great asset to the side. Mitchell is a postman during the week, and keen gardener that also enjoys reading, painting and chess.
Nick Dowrick - Another recent recruit, Nicks enthusiasm and commitment are
have been a positive to Pencarrow's dismal season so far. A gardener, cottager and stonemason by trade, Nick is still finding his feet at this level after a long period of time out of the game.
Simon Malloni - Simon is set to make his debut at Luckett but is already etched into Pencarrow folklore with his incredible ability to smoke Silk Cut cigarettes and cigars non-stop, even whilst batting and bowling. Malloni is a respected figure in local probation service circles and is a big hit with the female followers.
Dominic Thorn - Dominic has made just one appearance to date, with an unsuccesful debut against Newquay. Dom ranks as one of the most un-coordinated and retarded players ever to grace the Pencarrow turf. In his spare time enjoys getting arrested, harrassing ex-girlfriends and impersonating Napoleon Dymanite.
Pete Cann - Cornish Cricket journeyman Cann joined the club on the eve of the 2009 season, and immediately endeared himself to his colleagues with his cheerful and refreshing approach to the game, gritty batting and exceptional wicket-keeping. Cann is comfortable standing up to the stumps and has taken some very sharp chances this season, as well as some Michael Bevan-esque innings with the bat.
Mark Wallis - Mark is a Pencarrow stalwart with a superb bowling average and a useful lower order batsman. He is also one of the quickest runners between the wickets and a fine fielder. Mark is now the proud father of twins, and his accurate bowling was vital in the win at Grampound Road recently. His reliability leaves room for improvement.
Samad Rizvi - Another product of the clubs prospering youth policy, West Devon U-13 starlet Samad is one of the most promising youngsters at the club. A useful seam bowler and capable batsman, he promises to be a mainstay in the side for years to come.
Jonny Andrews - One of the most exciting talents in the South-West, Jonny is a talented stroke-maker and capable of hitting a cricket ball as cleanly and as far as anyone in the lower leagues. Also a useful but erratic bowler and fielder, Andrews' presence is crucial to Pencarrow's promotion bid. On the left, Jonny is pictured with his boyhood hero, Marcus Trescothick.
John Child - Pencarrow's first overseas player joined the ranks midway through the 2009 season. John has played district level cricket in New Zealand and is comfortably one of the best players in the league. A hard-hitting batsman and quality seam bowler, John's presence and experience is a massive bonus to the club.
